About

Amy Vangellow is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.  Known previously as the bassist and co-lead vocalist for the band Peppermint James, Amy is now a solo artist.

Upon meeting David Rodenbach in 2002, Amy's journey was catapulted.  Working together on her original solo project- they considered embarking on a band project together.  Putting her solo career on hold and taking up the bass guitar in 2005, Amy joined what would become the power trio Peppermint James.  Amy quit her job to study the bass guitar full-time and rehearse with the band, and after just four months the band played their first gig.  She attributes her ability to pick up different feels on the bass quickly to the music she listened to growing up, her love for R&B and Rap in high school, and listening to obscure and multicultural artists with her bandmates.

Peppermint James was both a professional original and cover band, consisting of the members David Rodenbach (guitar, vocals, keys), Jonathan Lefevbre (drums), Misael Rios (drums), Aaron Bland (drums), and Amy Vangellow  (bass guitar, co-lead vocals, management). Having experienced a broad range of opportunities, from corporate and private performances, to festivals and opening for the likes of The Wailers, Blues Traveler, Huey Lewis and the News, and Berlin (to name a few), Amy was able to hone her skills as a performer.

Since parting ways with Peppermint James in 2018, Amy’s passion for a solo career truly took off with the completion of an album worth of songs in just six months. Shortly thereafter, Amy had the opportunity to showcase her music for Simon Katz of Republic Records.  He told her that he felt she had a lot to say and that, "people will love you once they find you."  Following the showcase, Amy launched her YouTube channel featuring completely rough, raw, and live intimate performances of her original songs as well as cover songs that have inspired her.

Amy next began teaching music lessons when she was approached by a studio who knew of her experience and skill.  She accepted the position immediately as she had seen how inspired many of the spectators and fans had been at festivals where her band performed,  along with those who followed them regularly.  Amy was (and remains) eager to help students gain the skills and knowledge needed to express their musical passions as she has been able to do throughout her career.

Additionally, Amy has finally decided to share her private photography collection with the world.  By providing licensing opportunities for use through multiple platforms, those wishing to enjoy her works may choose to do so through such platforms. (Coming Soon...)
